The first week of the season has been very exciting. The Magic and Knicks started off hot, but the Nuggets and Lakers began cold. The cold teams need their chemistry up, while the hot teams just need to keep stable. For wednesday November seventh, I will predict the winners of each game. The predictions will come with a summary of the game and reasons why the team will win. There is still a whole season in store, so don’t panic over the first few weeks.
Phoenix Suns @ Charlotte Bobcats – Charlotte did tally a win in game one, but we are talking about the same team that won only seven games last year. They do have a new and improved team, but the Phoenix Suns are just to talented to take a loss here. The Suns have very more talent as well as depth when compared to the Bobcats, so to me this is a no-brainer.
Washington Wizards @ Boston Celtics – Boston is 1-2 to start the season, but there is no way they will lose to the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have a starting lineup without John Wall or Nene, so their points and defense has not been fantastic in any way. Altogether, their starting lineup only amass 31 points, so their bench has to pick up the slack. As for the Celtics, they have an advantage at practically every position, so I say Rajon Rondo and the Celtics will roll past Washington.
Indiana Pacers @ Atlanta Hawks – This is a very tough one. The Indiana Pacers offense has been miraculous as of late, but their defense has been slow. Already putting a loss on their record from Charlotte, the Pacers were forced in double OT verses the Kings. Both teams are not well-rounded yet, so playing exceptionally well against the Pacers is very surprising. The Hawks on the other hand are very talented with or without Josh Smith. The addition of Josh Smith will fire up this offense, leading them to victory.
Brooklyn Nets @ Miami Heat – The defending champions easily have this in the bag. There is no question that the Heat are a championship contender, and can take on any team. The Brooklyn Nets have surrendered a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves without Ricky Rubio or Kevin Love, which shows there is a lack in team chemistry. The big three will work together putting together an easy win for Miami.
Memphis Grizzlies @ Milwaukee Bucks – The Milwaukee Bucks are coming off a big buzzer beater win verses Cleveland, but their win streak of two games will come to an end. The Memphis Grizzlies are well-rounded, as their big men are double-double machines. I see no chance for Milwaukee because there will be no second chances on offense, so everything needs to be perfect. The Bucks do have a better back court than Memphis, but I see Mike Conley Jr. putting Brandon Jennings in his place. This will be a big win for the Grizzlies, as they will be 3-1.
Philadelphia 76ers @ New Orleans Hornets – The 76ers have started out slow, but all this will come to an end. Having back to back loses verses the New York Knicks, the 76ers will look to even their record at .500. The New Orleans Hornets are a big threat, as they are 2-1. With breakout week one players Robin Lopez and Al-Farouq Aminu, the Hornets won’t let the 76ers get off easy, but I still see them falling to them by five plus points.
Denver Nuggets @ Houston Rockets – There is really no question here. The Houston Rockets have James Harden, who has been playing miraculous lately, as he will easily drop 25+ points. Other than James Harden, the Rockets have rebounding and assists to back up Harden, so I see no trouble here. As for Denver, they are not starting the seasons strong, and have taken losses from Miami, Orlando, and Philadelphia. Now these teams are pretty solid, as they all have the talent to excel. But I do not see the Nuggets capable of beating the Houston Rockets.
Orlando Magic @ Minnesota Timberwolves – The Twolves have played well without stars Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love, but they don’t have the talent to take down Orlando. The Magic have bounced back very well since they lost Dwight Howard, as they are 2-1. Glen Davis and the rest of the team have played very well since the loss of Dwight, as the team chemistry is very high. The Minnesota Twolves are without Love and Rubio, so their chances of winning are slim.
Toronto Raptors @ Dallas Mavericks – The Mavericks to me, easily have this in the bag. The Raptors aren’t very talented and even with Dirk Nowitzki out for the Mavs, they are no competition for the Mavs. Kyle Lowry of the Raptors is playing like an all-star but the team can’t put a win together. They are 1-3 unlike the Mavs, who are 3-1 (2-0 @home). The Mavericks have had Chris Kaman rise to help put wins on the board for the Mavs. The injury of Dirk Nowitzki seems to not have an impact, and I don’t see one here.
Los Angeles Lakers @ Utah Jazz – This is an easy one to me. Yes the Lakers started out slow, but they are still an championship caliber team. Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, and Pau Gasol have helped the team win their first game, as they should contribute to another one tonight. The Jazz don’t have a front court star, but their back court is very deadly. But with Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol playing against them, I see nothing more than a blow out.
Detroit Pistons @ Sacramento Kings – This could be a toss up game. Both teams aren’t off to a good start, as each of them are under .500. The Sacramento Kings are 1-0 at home, so I expect them to be 2-0 after tonight. As for the Pistons, they are 0-3 away, so they won’t likely be a threat. Like I said either team could win, but I think Sacramento have the advantage.
San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Clippers – The San Antonio Spurs are on a 4-0 run, and I expect nothing more than another win here tonight. The Clippers are very talented, but it almost seems that the most Spurs are playing like they are in their prime. Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are both playing well, as each of them are contributing to the wins. As for the Clippers, they are 2-2 and aren’t really playing like last year. They have surrendered losses to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Both teams aren’t very bad, but they aren’t playoff threats. The Spurs will roll past them without a problem.
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Golden State Warriors – This game is also up for grabs. Both teams are very solid, as each of them have stars. However, I think that Kyrie Irving and Dion Waiters are set to go off, so the Warriors will take a beating at home. But like I said, it is up for grabs.
