As the trade deadline approaches one of the hottest names on the block is Lakers center Dwight Howard.
To say Dwight Howard is upset in L.A. is an understatement. To say Kobe wants to spend the time babysitting Dwight is outrageous. To say that the current Lakers team will win a championship is blasphemous. To say that something needs to change is the truth.
In this trade scenario Dwight Howard will be shipped off to Brooklyn the place he should have went from the get-go and in return the Lakers will be better off in the long run.

Lets break down this scenario:
Brooklyn gets the player they’ve wanted for two years. They also surround him with a shooter in Jodie Meeks. Toney Douglas is a backup point guard and will replace C.J. Watson and Patrick Paterson will fit perfectly in Brooklyn. He will most likely move into the starting power forward spot and be an upgrade over Reggie Evans and Kris Humphries. Brooklyn gives up Brook Lopez but upgrades at the center position. Teletovic and Stackhouse both do not see the court very often so there loss will not be missed, and C.J. Watson will be replaced by Toney Douglas. The loss of Brooks will hurt as he can create his own shot and Bogans provides veteran leadership, but it is worth it if Brooklyn can obtain Dwight. The loss of draft picks should not be such a big deal if Brooklyn does prosper as they will then be end of the first round picks.
The Lakers will get to trade away there rotten egg in Dwight Howard. Jamison is an expiring contract and Meeks is an 8th rotation man at best. In return they get an all-star center in Lopez and three or four quality bench players to provide more depth and take the pressure off the starters. They also obtain a 1st round pick which cannot hurt. While this season may still be lost for the Lakers, next year the Lakers will absolutely be better.
Houston receives Brooks, Bogans and Jamison which is a healthy haul for giving up Paterson, Delfino and Douglas. Douglas has not played a ton in Houston and will not be drastically missed. Houston is full of talent at the power forward position and while Paterson is young and talented is nothing that Marcus Morris or Royce White can not replace. Delfino is shooter and quality defender but nothing more. Brooks will provide play-making ability and will prosper along side James Harden. Bogans can knock down three’s and play good wing defense which is always a plus, and Jamison can knock down long jumpers as well which can stretch the floor and clear up alleys for Harden, Brooks, and Jeremy Lin to attack. The 1st round pick from Brooklyn should end up being in the low 20’s which should provide more young depth to Houston’s already talented squad.
