The red-hot New York Knicks look very sharp to start the 2012 NBA season. Defeating the Miami Heat once and the Philadelphia 76ers twice, the Knicks have proven themselves as a stable team. They have depth at almost all positions, as they have scored a numerous amount of points off the bench. Along with their depth, the Knicks defense have been phenomenal, as they amass about 10 steals and surrender only 85 points per game. That is very surprising when you find out the Knicks did that to two championship contenders.
The New York Knicks could be considered the new team to beat, as almost every player on their team is talented and an offensive threat. The Knicks not only have a talented bench, but their starting lineup is the biggest threat. The biggest threat on their team is starting forward, Carmelo Anthony. Melo has improved defensively in the offseason, as he now averages one block and one steal a game. Usually Melo averages one steal, but his blocks have increased by a whole .5 blocks. That doesn’t seem like an improvement, but that extra .5 blocks could help them stop a basket that decides the game. Besides Melo, the Knicks have defensive beast Tyson Chandler and veteran guard Jason Kidd. These players are very experienced and it seems they have the chemistry to win. This is a very good sign for the Knicks as I do predict they will be a team to beat in the East as well as the whole NBA.
