DeMarcus Cousins, big man for Sacramento has been suspended indefinitely by the Kings on Saturday. Suspending him for “unprofessional behavior and conduct detrimental to the team.” (ESPN)
Cousins and head coach Keith Smart exchanged thoughts in the locker room during halftime on Friday, December 22nd. After this verbal disagreement Cousins was benched the second half, as Keith Smart commanded Cousins to not step back on the court.
This isn’t the first time this season, nor is it surprising. Cousins has been immature in many ways such as wanting to be traded or starting altercations with opposing players.
“We’re trying to set a standard here, and when guys move below that standard, things are going to take place,” Smart said after the game in Los Angeles. “We’ll just move on to the next game and I’ll make some decisions from there.” (ESPN)
Cousins still has some maturing to do. Looking back in his brief career, he has had many altercations that led to suspension. If he doesn’t learn then Sacramento could be in big trouble. They have a 8-18 record, including a 1-11 road record. Time will tell if Cousins can recuperate and become one of the best big men in the game.
