1.       Orleans Hornets-Anthony Davis

This is a no brainer best player in the draft. Davis has the ability to change the franchise in the same way we saw Ewing did for an ailing Knicks team many years ago. With a defensive presence we haven’t seen in a long time along with great hands, an expanding offensive game and a high basketball IQ, Davis should make New Orleans relevant for the next 10+ years.

2.       Charlotte Bobcats-Thomas Robinson

The Bobcats are shopping this pick with Cleveland being very interested as they are worried that Wizards will grab Beal at 3. If they keep the pick Robinson is a very safe pick. Robinson has great work ethic and athletic ability he shares many of the same leadership qualities of MKG but with more offensive ability. He will be a solid starter for many years.

3.       Washington Wizards-Bradley Beal

Bradley is the number one rated shooting guard by most (this writer not included). With the trade made by the Wizards it was pretty clear that Beal was there guy. While I think comparisons to Gordon and Allen or off the mark Beal should be a solid guard beside the erratic John Wall.

4.       Cleveland Cavaliers-Harrison Barnes

The Cavs have been in love with Barnes since last year.  With their first choice Beal off the board, pairing him with the strong point guard play of Kyrie Irving they should become a dynamic duo for next ten yearsMy pick for ROY

5.       Sacramento Kings- Micheal Kidd Gilchrist

With all kinds of offensive firepower the Kings fall into the first gift of the draft and get Gilchrist a guy who will provided all the intangibles needed, along with the work ethic and leadership qualities the Kings sorely need.

6.       Portland Trailblazers-Andre Drummond

Lillard could also go here as Blazer are very high on him. Drummond did not have freshman season they hoped but very few big men have navigated their first year in Big East very well either. His upside is too much not to take a chance on.  I honestly believe Drummond is much like Dwight Howard coming out of HS when people questioned all the same issues they now do with Drummond. A pairing of Aldridge and Drummond could be the most dominant in recent history.

7.       Golden State-Terrence Ross

With text book small forward skills, size and athleticism Ross would complete a tremendous perimeter attack with Curry and Thompson. Golden state may prefer to trade pick for experience but Ross fits a need.

8.       Toronto Raptors-Perry Jones III

This first surprise of first round, the Raptors need a 3 and Harrison Barnes is off the board. Jones is a talent comparable to Anthony Davis, many projected him to be number 1 pick in 2011 had he come out. He did not play up to his potential in college many times disappearing in games. Jones is a 3 in a 4’s body. Athletically and skill wise he will be able play 3 and Casey is perfect coach for him, Jones has impressed me in interviews and workouts, I think he is on verge of turning corner and will be Colangelo’s version of Stoudemire in Toronto.

9.       Detroit Pistons- Myers Leonard

A player that stock has risen significantly since the NBA draft combine. The tallest player at combine with above average athletic ability, to go along with a nice shooting stroke and improved strength, Leonard would be a great pairing with Greg Monroe.

10.   New Orleans-Damian Lillard

With a very strong showing at the combine with near identical numbers to D Rose’s. Lillard provided the final check mark need to be #1 point guard in draft. A proven score first point guard now will have to prove he can run a team and distribute. With AD and Lillard New Orleans could have 2 all stars in top 10.

11.   Portland Trailblazer-Austin Rivers

This pick could possibly help with the loss of Brandon Roy. Rivers has scoring ability and elite level confidence. While his overall game needs development I think the former number 1 HS player has the bloodlines and brains to figure it out.

12.   Milwaukee Bucks-Tyler Zeller

In need of a solid big man I think Zeller has more potential than given credit for. With                added strength should be solid pro for 10 years.

13.   Phoenix Suns-Dion Waiters

Waiter’s comparisons to Wade is a stretch but he is a strong all around guard. Waiters had promise and shut down workouts, I believe it is from the suns.

14.   Houston-John Henson

An excellent shot blocker and athlete Henson steadily improved every year offensively. He needs to gain weight, however under the tutelage of Kevin Mchale he should flourish.
